Glenn Hamer, president of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said, “We are very bullish that over the next session, and probably earlier than later, there is going to be an opportunity to get a landmark job package . . . to the governor’s desk for her signature.” Details of a prospective job bill have yet to emerge, but it is expected to be part of an economic-development package that will offer business-tax reductions and other incentives to encourage companies to remain here and expand, and to make the state more competitive in luring firms from other states or countries. “Assuming a job bill or economic-development package becomes law, job seekers shouldn’t expect quick results. Job ads won’t increase suddenly when a law takes effect. And people could lose their jobs in the interim because of the expected steep state spending cuts this year.”
